Embrace Deep Rest this Winter (or start now)
How many of you are pretending that the next climatic version of Helene that swept through the Southeastern U.S. with such devastation won't happen to you, business or community?
The people in my world think about this a lot - some of it is has a 'where can I escape to?' vibe (raises hand, too).
And yet, I also surround myself with thought leaders on how to prepare for and how to create climatic resilient lives and businesses that nurture each other and the planet.
I've been training myself over the past year to primarily spend time with people who see the urgency of our times as a signal to breathe life into our rooted intentions and clear vision of living life for the sake of others. I haven't found any easy or broad brush answers.
I keep listening and learning to be useful the rest of my days.
In these challenging times, are you more reflective and present?
What changes have you made, or are you considering, to make so your unique gifts are available to a world that needs them?
Do you notice your body as you read the news? How's your body as you read the latest headline?
Do you allow yourself to grieve what you see, imagining how people are living through great losses?
That's what there is to do - feel the shared humanity in our losses.
Martín Prechtel, one of my favorite authors says that all wars, from the one with your neighbor to those on your newsfeed, are made from, and on top of, grief not grieved.
Just imagine if we acknowledged and grieved our losses fully?
One gift I've experienced from of my father passing years ago was deep compassion that surfaced and replaced quite a bit of anger. Which is great for me, but even better for those in my wake. Our upsets are contagious.
What are you leaving in your wake from January 2024?
If there's something you've not finished or can't imagine dragging the same upset and stress into a new year, I'm offering several opportunities for a deep dive for serious change agents of our times who lead teams, businesses and organizations of purpose, on purpose.
