Unlocking Transformation: The Power of Mindful Communication

Last Tuesday was quite a day!

First coaching client shows up with a request for acupuncture. After asking a lot of curious questions, her noticing her body reactivity and without any needles inserted, she realizes how she is creating her upper chest tension which is halting her breathing. No pointy stainless steel ones necessary! She's remembering her body's wisdom. Words, in the form of genuine, curious questions, are needles that generate easier breath. Our conversations are the real deal as a form of true heath care.

My next client says after a week of noticing her breath, she saved herself, and the other human on a text exchange, further anger and upset. She remembered to notice her breath. This slowed her reactive momentum long enough to observe her reactivity, which took only seconds. This allowed her to take another look at what she was about to send, and being at this edge, chose to delete it. She's practicing choice. You can be unaware and 'up the ante' or intentionally pause and then engage. The results are a relaxed body, drama averted, possible days of escalation or mopping up a mess averted. Powerful!

Another client relayed that when her daughter was upset, she remembered to ask “Do you have a request”? She remembered that many upsets are a request in disguise. Because of the clarity of the question, her daughter said yes and made a request with Mom accepting. Kids learn the skills practices quickly. And, within the following hour, her daughter uses the practice with her Mom to get clarity on other things she's been thinking about (see photo). Note the accept, decline  counter-offer. This one skill diminishes ongoing suffering and generates smoother relationships because real choice is built in to the practice.

The skills don't take long to learn and it's the practice of them that creates so much less suffering and reactivity everywhere you go!
