Navigating Uncertainty: A Personal Story of All In

Have you ever found yourself at a crossroads, uncertain about the path ahead, and questioning if what you're doing truly aligns with your purpose, but also what your communities need from you?

If so, you're not alone. I've been at that very intersection, noticing my discomfort in that I have more to offer and the capacity to help others.

I've had a career that was very fulfilling, fully aligned with my values and vision for the world…and…there was an inkling of more I could offer.

I could stay put, not move a muscle in any direction. Why upset the apple cart?

Let me share a bit of my story with you.

A Recent Shift in Perspective

I spent over a decade deeply immersed in the world of western healthcare, but I was using Chinese medicine to help people.  While it's very satisfying to see many of my patients recover from conditions they were told were impossible to heal from, there was a nagging sense within me that I could be doing more—that my true calling lay in deepening one aspect of my work, a curious conversation on how someone found themselves here to my office.

It was during those intimate conversations with patients, who were mostly leaders of organizations, that I realized my strongest skill lay in helping people be curious to recognize where and how they were losing agency and then to turn things around in a very short time!

The ripple effect of these conversations was profound, as past patients and clients would often reach out to me, sharing how those subtle shifts had transformed them and their organizational culture, and even family dynamics long after they had left my treatment room!

Embracing Change: Stepping into Uncertainty

But transitioning from a comfortable, familiar path that I had chosen to one that required me to re-do just about everything was far from easy. I was already successful and getting great results. So no, I wasn't 100% confident. I teetered between what felt safe and what felt truly fulfilling, often keeping one foot in each realm.

I'll admit, it was scary to pivot. The past two years were successful enough for me to know there were more opportunities ahead. And, it was only recently, in January of this year, that I mustered the courage to go all-in, to fully commit one-hundred percent to the path I knew deep down I was meant to walk.

This was despite the fact that it ‘looked’ to be the wrong decision. But, I felt uplifted and spacious in my body when to imagine building on the success I'd already created.

And, when I thought of not taking this risk, I felt a thud in my body.

I trust these different sensations.

The spacious and uplifted body has reliably led me down the right path in my life.

I know weighing pros and cons, looking at your bank account or the people you're responsible for, factors in decision-making, but you must include how you feel in your body when making those decisions.

Misalignment or not feeling truly clear will only result in more dis-ease. The discomfort might mean jump. Or, it might not. ((How do you reliably know?))

And you know what?  All in has been transformative. And, challenging!

But, stepping into my true calling, and declaring I’m all in, has allowed me to deeply feel the discomfort of growth but I have gained such confidence from it!

And, if not now, when?

Signs abound that things are not going well for humanity.

I'm needed now, even when I'm scared or hesitant.

I can say when I've reliably jumped in with enough data, not waiting for all the facts or information, I've landed (on my feet or sometimes on my ass :).

No longer am I settling for who others would prefer me to be. I use the discomfort to get more and more clear on next steps.

This is what I teach.

Embracing Growth: Learning to Navigate Discomfort

How to use tension as wise messengers to make decisions with the data for yourself and your organization. This benefits you, your family and our world.

So, if you're feeling stuck, stressed, or on the verge of giving up, I want you to know that maybe you should give up, surrender, or let go.

Or, perhaps there is a path that you can walk that lights you up.

What I know for sure is that we all have gifts to bring to our organizations and communities.

Together, we can explore how to reignite your sense of purpose, reclaim your agency, and chart a course towards a more fulfilling life.

Because leading doesn't have to be draining. As a wise teacher told me: Learn how to feed. And, learn how to be fed.

Take a moment to reflect on what truly matters to you. What is it that lifts you up and drives you forward, even in the face of adversity?

And remember, you don't have to navigate this journey alone. I have coaches on speed dial or at the click of a Zoom meeting!

In other words, learn how to be fed. Allow me to support you.

Contact me and let's figure out if I can be of help.
