Harness the Power of Breath for Leadership and Wellness

Breathe in, breathe out.

Are you breathing?

Right now, stop what you're doing, including reading any further and put one hand on your belly and the other hand on your chest. Slowly, to the count of 5, inhale. Slowly, to the count of 5, exhale.

Now, what's different? Your circumstance is the same, but you changed something that's pretty vital.

The data says we breathe about 20,000 times a day. How much of those are you aware of? Maybe 1%?

When we take deep, slow breaths, we actually interrupt, slow down our body chemistry, decrease our stress hormones, ie cortisol, as well as our thoughts so we can think clearly and be more present to what we're reacting to.

This is not only an important leadership skill, it's a critical wellness skill. A lot of modern diseases also come with high cortisol levels, such as HBP and diabetes. When we slow down and become present using our breath, there are innumerable health benefits, as well as for the other humans on your team or in your family. Because tension spreads like a virus . And, walking into a room all reactive, your kids, clients and colleagues notice. And now, you've just infected them!

How many of you have been taught in your leadership training to breathe? Not just take one single deep breath, but as an actual skill to use?

That's the brilliancy of all 12 modules of my Lifelong Leadership Training. Simple, with awesome side-effects and no Venn diagram needed (although I can create one if needed!)

You bring your body everywhere you go, so let's interpret your sensations not as pathology, but as a path, as medicine for not only you, but for the sake of your family or team, using your body wisdom as a brilliant guide.
