I've been hiding something. Not anymore.

On energy healing, edited lives, and what medicine is still missing.

I've Been Hiding Something
Mary Morrison

For most of my life, I've quietly edited myself.

In my career it looked like this: lead with the credentials, soften the rest. The Master’s in acupuncture, the MBA — those translated. Those fit the room. But the other part — the part that knows the body is a field of intelligence, that healing moves through consciousness, that we are far more connected to nature and to each other than Western medicine has ever had the language for — that part I kept quiet. Softened. Made palatable.

Because the room I was in couldn't hold it. Or so I thought.

I'm done with that.

There's a difference between being the weirdo and being true. I spent a long time confusing the two.

Because I Heard This

This week I'm sharing a podcast with you a friend sent me, The Telepathy Tapes -specifically the episodes on energy healing.

I'm recommending them because it comes closer than almost anything I've heard so far in mainstream media to explaining what I have offered, experienced, practiced, and witnessed clinically for nearly two decades. A Cambridge-trained material scientist who had his worldview dismantled by a single experience. An acupuncturist who discovered she could feel her patients' Qi moving before she touched them. A liver pathologist who stumbled onto an entire anatomical structure, the interstitium, which a Chinese NIH scientist laughed at because they'd been describing it for 4,000 years.

Western medicine isn't wrong about the body. It’s disastrously incomplete.

How To Listen — Because I Want You To Listen Well

The podcast is good and incomplete.

The podcast describes energy healing as rare and as something done to patients. What it doesn't say, and what my work is built on, is that this intelligence isn't a gift. It's a birthright. Everyone can learn to cultivate it. That's what Zhineng Qigong is about. That's what my Wisdom Within Method™ is about. Not solely receiving healing from outside you. It's learning to move with the intelligence that is already moving through you and outside of you that's never separate.

It also mentions Reiki as the primary reference point for hands-on energy work. Reiki and Hun Yuan Qi Therapy (HYQT), which is touchless. Both direct energy information. HYQT is based on the principles of Zhineng qigong science. If this podcast sends you looking for a practitioner, I want you to know the difference exists and to reach out if you want to understand it (I've taken level 1 Reiki and I’m a certified HYQT).

And one more thing: the podcast doesn't go here, so I will. The reason so many of us — especially women — have cleaved ourselves from this kind of intelligence isn't accidental. We were taught that intuition isn't data. That the body's intelligence isn't evidence. That spiritual knowing has no place in a boardroom, a hospital, or a serious professional life.

That severance is not a personal failure. It's a cultural one.

And it is costing us everything that matters — our health, our leadership, our ability to be fully present in our own lives.

Reconnecting to what we already know — that is the work. Not learning something new. Remembering something true.

I'm not sharing this because I've arrived somewhere.

I'm sharing it because I know I'm not the only one who has been quietly managing the distance between what they know and what they're allowed to say out loud.

My acupuncture patients. My Qigong students. My coaching clients. The executives who think this has nothing to do with them.

I see you. I've been you.

The cost of staying edited, staying small, staying safe, staying palatable, is higher than most of us have been willing to name.

I know because I paid for it for most of my life, but I’ll continue to push the edges of my own comfort.

Listen to the podcast. Notice what stirs. I'd love to hear from you. Reach out directly here.
